Some people are buying R-22 refrigerant from e bay and doing the recharge themselves and I don’t blame them the cost most air conditioning companies are charging for R-22 refrigerant is crazy and I would not pay those prices.

Working licensed as an air conditioning contractor. First we must recover any and all existing R22 in the air conditioning system leak test the air conditioning system.

I like to use nitrogen and really put some pressure in the system bubbles, leak detectors, and listen for leaks.

I like to make sure I find and fix the leaks prior to adding and refrigerant because we don’t want to come back for free if the air conditioner stops working. braise the leaks or replace leaky components.

I like to install a new inline filter dryer when doing this retrofit. Using a good vacuum pump let this run for a minimum of 30 minuets.

I do like my JB vacuum pump because it pulls down tight and you know you don’t have a leak or use a micron gauge to measure the vacuum in micrometers.

Charge the air conditioner with NU-22 refrigerant using a liquid charge because it is a blended refrigerant.

For you do it yourself type why pay $450.00 for R-22 refrigerant just go buy the NU-22 drop in replacement for R-22 Freon refrigerant and save yourself the expensive prices of R-22 Freon.

Because you have a refrigerant leak in your air conditioning system and you are just wasting your money on the good stuff R-22 Freon refrigerant. this is a drop in replacement and does not require oil change, metering device change out.

Is Nu 22 the same as R-22?
NU-22B can be used to COMPLETELY replace R-22 refrigerant in new or existing R-22 residential and commercial air conditioning systems as well as non-flooded evaporator chillers. Cannot be added to R-22 unless fully evacuated and recharged with NU-22B. NU-22B® Replaces R-22, R-407C, R-422D and R-417A.

Is NU 22 a good home air conditioner replacement for R-22?
Freon™ NU-22B™ has an ASHRAE A1 classification and is non-ozone depleting and nonflammable. It is well-suited for AC applications because it closely mimics the operating characteristics of R-22 and works over the same operating pressures as R-22.

The best replacement for R-22 Freon is usually R-407c. It has a very low loss in capacity (0 – 5%) relative to R-22 and is less expensive than many other R-22 replacement refrigerants.

  If you are an EPA licensed technician you cannot mix refrigerants so recover all R22 in the system. I would not flush out the system. I would replace the filter dryer. Pull a good vacuum in the system to 500 micron or lower. You can add the synthetic oil if you feel your refrigerant needs it.
