I remove the old fitting and clean up the surface really good with towel, steel brush and emery cloth. Cleaning the surface when braising metals together is really important in the air conditioning refrigeration industry.
I braised my fittings with 50% silver because we have to use this for steal to copper applications. I cleaned up the wield and inspected it with a mirror to make sure I had proper flow and a good wield.
