Some people look for coupons to try to save money but in the long run it probably costs you more. Calling out big companies that have a huge staff and many fleet trucks is for sure going to cost you more in repairs and new equipment costs.
I am not sure why contractors have the fancy websites with their huge building, large staff, and show all the trucks they own? Is this supposed to make the customer that is looking for a good price thinks Wow this company looks awesome! I only see large overhead for employees, trucks, fuel, and rent! Do you really want to call that company up and help keep their monthly sales and service numbers high?

Most air condition companies pay their employees hourly and bonuses. This way the company can decide if the technician is good and can also make money by doing what we call the up sales! In my younger years while going to college I was working for an air conditioning company in Costa Mesa at first it was hourly and the owner was making good money, but he started to get greedy after building up a good customer base.
He started to offer bonuses for up sales and trust me I can sell great but I am honest and will not commit a crime for fraud! I am not saying that this owner asked us to do anything shady or unethical at the time but most of the other employees loved the money and started to do stuff I did not agree with! I gave my notice and walked away from that company.
It’s a new world out there for the repair industry because if a air conditioning technician comes out and tells you what is wrong with your air conditioner and gives you an estimate to fix it you can just Google the price for the parts and see if you are getting an honest deal! Sure there will be a small markup on that contractor, or capacitor but knowing what they sell for and what you are being charged keeps the company honest!
I did have a big company but always paid my guys by the hourly rate! I don’t want anyone around me doing something not right with my company and my customers! Sure we made good money but I was tired of the stress and all the overhead and costs to run a big company! I also was not happy with some of the workers how they cut corners to save time and money!
I decided a few years ago to go back to being small I removed my overhead trucks, staff, and building! Without the high overhead I can bid the jobs lower than any other company and still make money! This way my customers save money and get the owner at their job! I am really happy not to have the stress and to take time off to relax and enjoy life!
