Lets start with your outside condensing unit. This is like your radiator on your car. It needs to be cleaned and washed down at least once a year.

Dirt, leaves, grass, and dryer vent debris plug up the fins and not allow good heat transfer through the condenser.  This is like putting cardboard in front of your car radiator.

The condensing unit outside will work harder run hotter and make your electric meter spin faster causing high electric bill.

Your evaporator coil is located next to your furnace if you have a vertical furnace FAU it will be on top.  If your furnace or FAU is located in the attic or mounted horizontal it will be on the supply air end.

Changing your air filter is important as you can see the evaporator coil has plugged up with dirt from either cheap air filters or not replacing them every 3-6 months.

Again, this will cause your air conditioner to fail and also run your electric bill up while running your air conditioner.

Cleaning the evaporator in your home air conditioner is like making your system like new. Good air flow out of registers and great heat exchange.

Doing these 2 steps you can save money on your next electric bill while cooling your home.
